Bright eyed and bushy tailed, Jacob Howland "discovers' the obvious. Higher education is in need of an infusion of new colleges. I did that twenty years ago and published a history of that venture at St. Augustine's Press in 2017.
Why don't more try that? And the answer is that wealthy business people know "business" not education, and know they will be co-opted by their professors.
The other answer to why not more colleges lies in removal of accreditation agency barriers to regional accreditation.
It doesn't cost more than $300k a year to create, sustain and accredit a solely online university. But you have to know instructional design for effective internet courses.

The couple has donated over $220,000 to Trump’s reelection, the bulk of which was made in Caryn Borland’s name.
They were guests at the president’s renominating convention last month. They posed for photos from the White House South Lawn, including one that shows Michael Alfaro, a Trump fundraiser from Illinois, in the foreground. Alfaro, who is also slated to attend the Montana fundraiser, responded in the comments: “Working for the Borland family on South Lawn!”
The couple also said they dined with Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, according to a caption on a Aug. 27 Facebook photo of the couple and Paul.
Michael Borland also posed for a photo that same day with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, Borland’s Facebook account shows.
The couple previously posed for a picture with Trump, which Michael Borland posted to Facebook on Dec. 20.

Mr. Courtney’s claims of support from the president and other high-level government officials were false, and many of the contracts he provided on government agency letterhead were forgeries.
In June, Mr. Courtney pleaded guilty to a single count of wire fraud and agreed to repay his victims at least $4.4 million. In a brief telephone conversation from his home in Florida this summer, Mr. Courtney referred all questions to his lawyer, Stuart Sears, who declined an interview.
