This Fake Trump Group Is Trying to Get Your Money by Pretending It’s the Trump Campaign
June 25
Keep America Great Committee has run hundreds of paid Facebook ads that are verbatim copies of what Trump’s re-election team’s doing. But the group isn’t a pro-Trump entity at all.
For the hundreds of thousands of Facebook users who have been targeted by ads from the Keep America Great Committee, the group probably appears to be just another pro-Trump super PAC. Indeed, its ads, and the donation pages to which they link, look like they are from the Trump campaign itself.
That’s because the vast majority of them are from the Trump campaign. The Keep America Great Committee has run hundreds of paid Facebook posts via two pages on the platform, and most are verbatim copies of ads run by Trump’s re-election team. Many ads even use the same first-person pronouns, referring to “my” presidential campaign and “our” efforts to defeat Joe Biden.

CDC says COVID-19 cases in U.S. may be 10 times higher than reported
The estimate comes from a nationwide look at antibody tests.
June 25
The assessment comes from looking at blood samples across the country for the presence of antibodies to the virus. For every confirmed case of COVID-19, 10 more people had antibodies, Redfield said, referring to proteins in the blood that indicate whether a person's immune system has previously fought off the coronavirus.

Eye-Popping 500k Users Flock to Twitter Competitor After Twitter Shuts Down Pro-Trump Accounts
By Rudy Takala

The surge brings the two-year-old platform’s total number of users to 1.5 million, according to data provided by the company, an increase of 50 percent. The company, co-founded in 2018 by John Matze and Jared Thomson, bills itself as a “non-biased free speech” alternative to Twitter that applies broadcast standards to content its users publish — meaning it doesn’t censor political speech, but does prohibit certain content, such as hardcore pornography, that Twitter permits.
The development comes after Twitter on Tuesday banned Carpe Donktum, a well-known meme creator whose content is often shared by President Donald Trump, and locked an account belonging to National Pulse editor Raheem Kassam. Those actions sparked outcry from conservatives who encouraged users to join Parler, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who on Thursday said he had joined the platform because it “gets what free speech is all about.”
Most of those promoting Parler, including Cruz, retained accounts on Twitter as of Thursday. That platform reports having more than 320 million active accounts, though experts have indicated tens of millions — including 70 percent of those following President Donald Trump — may be fake.

Texas and Florida close bars after explosion of COVID-19 cases
June 26

Back in April, when states like New York were being battered by the virus while Florida was reporting far fewer cases, DeSantis claimed victory over the virus while on a visit with President Donald Trump at the White House.

"Everyone in the media was saying Florida would be like New York or Italy and that has not happened," DeSantis said. "We had a tailored and measured approach that not only helped our numbers be way below what anybody predicted, but also did less damage to our state going forward."

Mr. Trump’s base of 35% or so will never leave, but the swing voters who stood by him for three and a half years have fallen away in the last two months. This includes suburban women, independents, and seniors who took a risk on him in 2016 as an outsider who would shake things up. Now millions of Americans are close to deciding that four more years are more risk than they can stand.

As of now Mr. Trump has no second-term agenda, or even a message beyond four more years of himself. His recent events in Tulsa and Arizona were dominated by personal grievances. He resorted to his familiar themes from 2016 like reducing immigration and denouncing the press, but he offered nothing for those who aren’t already persuaded.

Mr. Trump’s advisers have an agenda that would speak to opportunity for Americans of all races—school choice for K-12, vocational education as an alternative to college, expanded health-care choice, building on the opportunity zones in tax reform, and more. The one issue on which voters now give him an edge over Mr. Biden is the economy. An agenda to revive the economy after the pandemic, and restore the gains for workers of his first three years, would appeal to millions.

Perhaps Mr. Trump lacks the self-awareness and discipline to make this case. He may be so thrown off by his falling polls that he simply can’t do it. If that’s true he should understand that he is headed for a defeat that will reward all of those who schemed against him in 2016. Worse, he will have let down the 63 million Americans who sent him to the White House by losing, of all people, to “Sleepy Joe.”

Florida governor under fire over claims state is 'cooking the books' on Covid-19
Ron DeSantis angrily dismisses allegation from fired scientist that officials are massaging figures to hide true impact of coronavirus
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jun/26/florida-governor-ron-desantis-republican-coronavirus
Rebekah Jones, who says she was fired from her job in charge of the state’s official Covid-19 database in May for refusing to manipulate its figures, claimed on social media to have evidence that employees at Florida’s department of health “have been instructed this week to change the numbers and begin slowly deleting deaths and cases so it looks like Florida is improving next week in the lead-up to July 4, like they’ve ‘made it over the hump’.”
“They’re only reporting all these cases now so they can restrict reporting next week to make everyone think it’s over,” she said.
DeSantis, a Donald Trump loyalist who has refused to slow Florida’s reopening or implement a statewide mask mandate, angrily dismissed the claim, calling a reporter from the Miami Herald who asked him about it “embarrassing”.
“You guys have been on the conspiracy bandwagon for months,” he snapped at a press conference on Thursday, without addressing the specifics of Jones’s assertion. “You need to move on.”

Hospital systems around Florida are reporting steep drops in the availability in intensive care and other beds, even as the department of health changes how it records such figures.

“Ron DeSantis has followed Donald Trump’s erratic leadership for three and a half months, and it clearly has not worked out for Floridians,” said Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic party. “Their eagerness to declare victory before the job was done has led us to this moment.”

'Please for the love of God do not vote for my dad': Republican's daughter voices opposition
Robert Regan blames daughter’s ‘socialist university’ but says he’s ‘happy she feels confident’ to oppose him publicly
Stephanie Regan’s words seem to have come as a blow to her father, who has espoused a commitment to his family on his campaign website, using multiple photos of himself and his children to support his campaign.
Robert Regan has spoken on local TV since his daughter sent out the tweet, blaming her liberal college education for her views.
“When they go off to college, quite frankly they get involved with these Marxist, socialist universities ,and they start getting indoctrinated with things that are completely polar opposite from where you raised them,” Regan told local TV.

Verizon is pulling advertising from Facebook and Instagram
June 26
On Thursday, the Anti-Defamation League released an open letter that mentioned, in part, that it had found an advertisement for Verizon “appearing next to a video from the conspiracy group QAnon drawing on hateful and antisemitic rhetoric.”

Facebook didn’t immediately return a request for comment Thursday. According to the Wall Street Journal, the company sent a memo from the company’s VP of global business Carolyn Everson to advertisers last week saying that it does not “make policy changes tied to revenue pressure” and that it sets “policies based on principles rather than business interests.”

“We respect any brand’s decision, and remain focused on the important work of removing hate speech and providing critical voting information,” Everson said in an emailed statement sent by the company Thursday. “Our conversations with marketers and civil rights organizations are about how, together, we can be a force for good.”

Appeals court rules funding for Trump border wall construction 'unlawful'
The Trump administration can't use money that Congress appropriated for military projects to build the wall, the appeals court ruled.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/appeals-court-rules-funding-trump-border-wall-construction-unlawful-n1232287
The executive branch "lacked independent constitutional authority to authorize the transfer of funds," the ruling said. "These funds were appropriated for other purposes, and the transfer amounted to 'drawing funds from the Treasury without authorization by statute and thus violating the Appropriations Clause.' Therefore, the transfer of funds here was unlawful."
